Culture DanceTheme Culture&Identity
To work with the theme culture & identity is very interesting for me. It is something what is a daily subject in my life. For example every time I get the question ‘Where you from?’. Where I am born? Where I grow up? Where I live? Where my looks come from? Where I feel most at home? My identity is a formed by a lot of different cultures.
New Zealand is the country where I am born. The Netherlands is where I grow up. My father comes from Indonesia, New Guinea. Besides this, my father lives in Rio de Janeiro in Brasil. And  decided last summer to move to Barcelona.
Every culture is a part of my identity. In my art I want to fit in every piece of culture to in own piece. In my opinion every culture is a part of my, what can be in many kind of ways.  They are whole completely different and it can change from time to time but they are all related and connected with each other .
We can see the whole world as a culture dance. Everybody has his own moves but in total we all dance together.

BondingTheme Culture&Identity
Everything we see, we use, we know, creates a kind of bond with us. With all the things we are surrounded by, we have a relationship with. It can be material, people, food, places. But in this relationship, there are values what are very important for you. What makes you bonded to something or somebody?
The piece  is an expression for all kinds of bonding we have. It looks  simple but the construction of a relationship must be strong and in balance. There is something what attracts you. There is a recognition and a feeling what makes you want, having a bond.

Beyond Dreams

How do we define dreams? What do they say? What do they mean? And what do we do with our dreams?
All those questions make dreams become a mystery. The only thing we are sure about is that the images are part of our imagination, a part of us.  Dreams becoming reality is what gives us hope and makes us believe in life.  Aren’t dreams just wake-up calls to make us aware of that?
Dreams are true while they last, and do we not live in dreams?”

Drawings:
Culture Dance & Culture Forest
What exactly is culture? What does it means for you? All over the world are many different cultures who have different values and ways of living.  All the cultures are have to share the world and live together. This can be very interesting but also strange and difficult. But in the end we are all human but just with different ways of living.
The way my cultures influence my identity is from a lot of different angels. I feel related with 5 different cultures and they are all part of me. In the pieces I made it is important that there are 5 parts who are coming together as 1 piece.
It is a dance, with different moves.
It is a forest, with different trees.

Paintings
Laundry Calle de Merce 26
Who is living there? Is it a whole family or one person? Is it a men or woman? Are they organized or chaotic? Are they rich or poor? How do they look like? What do they do?

Besides that laundry make the streets look nice, cute and colorful, what does it tells you about the people living there?

Photography:
So Fresh & So Clean
The streets of BCN ar coloured by fresh and clean laundry.
How do you do your wash? Black with blak, white with white, socks with sock, or all together?
And what does this say about you?
